Tanto me gustan gozo y amor y canto

y alegría, ocio y cortesía,

que en el mundo no hay riqueza ni caudal

que me pueda hacer más feliz;

por lo tanto, yo sé que mi dama tiene las llaves

de todos los bienes que yo espero y anhelo,

y nada de esto, sin ella, puedo obtener.

Su gran valor y su humilde semblante,

su gentil habla y su compañía,

me han hecho siempre querer a su señoría

más que a otra que yo hubiera visto después ni antes;

y si su cuerpo amoroso y dulce y suave

no se digna a retenerme y a darme merced,

nunca de ningún otro amor podré obtener placer.

He deseado con tanta fuerza su bien y su ventaja,

y la había deseado a ella y su compañía

que ya no creo, si me quiero alejar,

que se pudiera partir mi voluntad;

y si he contado el honor y el bien y la alabanza,

puesto que, con su virtud, bien sabe probar mi verdad.

Bella dama, cortesana, pudiente,

a pesar de que no os veo tan a menudo como querría,

y cuando, por otra parte, no os puedo físicamente ver

¿Sabéis por qué no vacilo ni dejo

Porque no tendría que temer, si yo os tuviera,

que mezclarais falsedad ni engaño;

porque yo amo más, pero sólo me atrevo a imaginar,

que vos podáis corresponder a mi necesidad

que a otra besar, abrazar y poseer.

Así pues, si me viera rodeado por vuestros brazos

de forma que los dos tuviéramos la misma voluntad,

no creo que pudiera existir un gozo mayor.
